Happy List: #413
Hi! Welcome to this week’s Happy List. It’s a great day to be inspired, and I’m glad you’re here.
This week on the blog, I shared how I have our sunporch set up for the winter. I may be writing this week’s Happy List from the couch in the sunporch. It’s a great place to work!
I also shared the recent updates I’ve made to our music room. It’s amazing how a few small tweaks change how a room feels.
On social media, I shared a reel of the finished wall, a cozy view of our sunporch, and an idea you can use if you don’t have a fireplace to hang your Christmas stockings. I hope you’ll check those out!
Thank you so much for choosing to spend a few minutes of your day here with me. I hope you have fun and leave feeling inspired. Too many things on the internet raise our blood pressure, and I hope the Happy List is the opposite of that for you. I also enjoy connecting with you. If you want to reach out, please comment on this blog post or email me here. You can also direct message me on Instagram or Facebook.
Here’s the Happy List!
NOSTALGIC
Can we all take a moment for that bright green telephone? My kids have never lived in a house with a landline.
I have a 50/50 chance of recalling Handy Husband’s cellphone number (that’s not great), but to my dying day, I’ll be able to remember the phone number we had growing up.
More photos of this home can be found at Homes and Gardens.

HOLIDAY BOW NAPKIN FOLD
Love this idea from HGTV on how to fold a napkin for your holiday dinners.
More napkin-folding ideas can be found here.

GOODNIGHT MOON SUITE
Remember the children’s book, Goodnight Moon?
Well, now you can sleep in a Goodnight Moon bedroom at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. See more pictures of the suite at Travel and Leisure.
Would you rent this room?

TASSELS
Good news, folks. The internet has rediscovered tassels, particularly for use as Christmas ornaments.
My mom went through a phase where she put a tassel on everything. Door knobs. Cabinet knobs. Curtain tiebacks. Her purse. Backs of chairs. If we sat still long enough, she probably would have tried to put one on us. Those were good times.
If you don’t have tassels in your stash, McGee and Co. is selling them. You could also make some pretty easily.

MINECRAFT LIBRARY
The Uncensored Library is an actual library built within the Minecraft game that publishes articles and information that have been censored by various countries. In many countries, access to information is blocked, but not access to the game Minecraft. Reporters Without Borders has started publishing within the game to give young people access to information.
This is SO inventive. You can learn more about the project and how you can support them here. There’s also a short YouTube video about the project.

P.S. I also read an article about therapists using Minecraft as an alternative to traditional play therapy. Apparently, this type of play therapy is particularly effective with preadolescent boys. If this is of interest to you or someone you love, you can read more about the effort here.
THE FALL OF ICARUS
It took six attempts for astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy and skydiver Gabriel C. Brown to get this photo of Brown skydiving in front of the sun.
You have to go watch the Instagram footage of this moment. It’s exhilarating. Humans are incredible.
You can order prints of this image from McCarthy’s site. This would make a cool Christmas gift! You can read more about the project at Colossal.

CUSTOM PHOTO VISOR CLIP
Love this under $15 gift idea from the Etsy shop Honey Custom. You can have them print a custom image on a photo visor clip.

P.S. If you’re in a rush, you can order blank photo visor clips on Amazon and make your own, too. A two-pack is around $7.
ROASTED SWEET POTATO SALADÂ
This Roasted Sweet Potato Salad from Alexandra Cooks looks like something I could eat every day.
Handy Husband would probably want me to add a side of meat to it. Ha!

POETRY MOMENT
Excerpt from The Book of Thanks: A Catalogue of Gratitude by Rachel Hebert
What do we say to longing?
If you have sat in the chill
of early morning bleakness
and watched as the deep blue
sighed and blushed, touched
by the warm curve of dawn
and pinker than pink then
apricot soft and spreading its
glow, you know. You know.
Thank you for reading this week’s Happy List.
Be good to yourself and others this weekend.
I’ll see you back here on Monday.
